Nike inks its first-ever pickleball partnership by signing rising star Anna Leigh Waters, marking a major milestone for both the global sportswear giant and the fast-growing sport. The deal makes Waters the first pickleball athlete to officially join Nike’s elite roster.

Although financial details were not made public, the agreement will see the 18-year-old sensation represent Nike in both apparel and footwear at all professional tournaments and appearances. Beyond competition, Waters will also take on the role of a global pickleball ambassador for the brand. She previously partnered with Fila, but that apparel and footwear contract concluded in 2025.

Pickleball’s popularity has surged dramatically over the past few years, drawing millions of new players worldwide. Despite the sport’s momentum, Nike had largely stayed on the sidelines—until now. The partnership with Waters signals a strategic shift as the company works through a broader turnaround under new CEO Elliott Hill, following slower sales and a recent dip in its stock performance.

For Waters, the Nike signing caps an extraordinary run. She currently holds the No. 1 ranking across women’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, boasting a staggering 181 career gold medals and 39 triple crowns—earned by winning all three disciplines at a single event. Her rise has been meteoric since turning pro in 2019 at just 12 years old, making her the youngest professional pickleball player in history.

“Growing up, I watched my idols wear the Swoosh in their biggest moments, so joining the Nike family is a dream realized,” Waters said in a statement. “Nike is the gold standard in performance, and I’m excited to compete for a brand that shares my relentless drive to be the best.”

The Nike announcement follows another major move for Waters. Just last week, she revealed a switch in paddle sponsors, signing on with Franklin Sports. Her endorsement portfolio also includes high-profile brands such as Delta Air Lines, DoorDash, and Ulta Beauty. According to a source familiar with her earnings, Waters makes approximately $2 million annually through the United Pickleball Association.
